Photoshopping 101

So from the pics I've seen, some of you guys are masters at photoshop. So I am making a thread about using photoshop. I obviously am a mediocre at this and have the faintest idea to use photoshop to produce pictures with fireworks and stuff. All I know is how to add words, put in banners and a couple of things. So I am going to start off with fireworks. Can anyone please tell me how to put fireworks in a picture? There is a concert in Chihiro and I dont want to wait until New Year's Day to put on a show:D

PS: I have gimp (since my parents arent buying photoshop and i cant save up for it) but its similar to photoshop so I'll prolly understand what your talkng abt lol.

I've had at least 4 versions of photoshop...I've never bought it

In anyway, I once found a really long tutorial about making fireworks in photoshop and would much prefer a simpler way

care to share a link as to said tutorial craig?
