Re: The Duck's new court
ummm hate to disappoint you Wacky but the NFL has much bigger fish to fry than moving teams around (like the likely chance that the UFL will be our only source of pro football next year)
First and foremost... San Antonio isn't getting a football team, I don't care how big football is in Texas they have the Cowboys and the Texans that's all Texas needs so you're really dreaming if you think San Antonio is getting a team.
The Oakland-LA deal has been talked about and BSed around forever, it's not going to happen. Pro football has tried in LA and for some reason it doesn't work.
The Chargers leave San Diego you're kidding right? What even prompts you to make that statement?
There is one thing you guys are forgetting and I recognize that Portland is it's own metropolitan area and all but the Pacific Northwest has a football team, the Seahawks, the NFL is not about to put any team into an already not so stellar market for sports that the Northwest has proven itself to be

Re: The Duck's new court
Look, the Chargers want to build a new stadium and if they can't get the money whats gonna happen. I know, LA is a terrible football town. How about the Vikings, I don't think they'll move out.
Re: The Duck's new court
If I said that they don't have room to build a stadium, how would a domed stadium change that? unless your building underground or somethingWacky32 wrote:I'm just sayin they could build a domed stadium. You never know.
The vikings moving is a huge rumor. They have no better time to leave anyway, after all, your stadium just got ripped apart, and your lease just expired (correct me if i'm wrong). I still think the vikings would be most ethical moving to LA. Portland would be the stupidest move of all time. That comes from a Portland resident and supported.

Vikings would most likely move to a larger West Coast market (*cough*LA*cough*) than Portland.

Re: The Duck's new court
L.A won't give a crap about football, but ok. What about Salt Lake City or Las Vegas?
Re: The Duck's new court
VEGAS I repeat over and over again is not a spot for a pro sports team
Gambling aside the residents there don't really support sports teams and the casino's drawing patrons to the games ain't gonna be enough either.
and just to change something for ya

MLS - Sounders FC
NBA - None/formerly Sonics (1967-08)
NHL - None/Never
Re: The Duck's new court
I know about the Seattle Metropolitans, but we haven't had a top-level hockey franchise since then...and I started counting in 1960s (when the "big four" began to rise).

Re: The Duck's new court
as much as I agree with the ethical problems of putting a pro team in vegas that would likely be a big candidate, as previously mentioned with the UFL the Las Vegas Locamotives were a big draw in the UFL and they have prooven themselves as fans to be a pretty loyal fan base even to a not so big time league.
The problem with moving the Vikings is the Minneapolis/St. Paul region is a decent market, Vikings fans are very loyal and they don't have any trouble selling tickets. The city is committed to building new stadiums, as we've just seen with the construction of TD Bank and Target field. If you ask me them leaving is about as likely as the Patriots moving to Hartford a few years back, they're just trying to dick around with the city a bit to get what they want don't you worry the Vikings will be in Minnesota for a while now.
